Obituary for Donna Mae Brown

Donna Mae Brown passed away on May 13, 2020 at CHI Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska from organizing pneumonia. She was born on Nov 20, 1938 to Charles and Leona Emma (Hoge) Stieren in Omaha, Nebraska. She was the middle daughter of 3 girls. She married Richard L. Brown on September 22, 1956 in Omaha, Nebraska. Six children were born to this union.

She received her GED, July 29, 1992, at the Orpheum; Omaha, Nebraska with her youngest son, Joe and older sister, Lois Tanner. She worked at the VFW in South Omaha, and later at the Rock Bottom Café as a cook. Her hobbies included playing bingo & bunko, crocheting, hand embroidery, and doing word searches. She enjoyed being a member and officer of her TOPS group. She was a survivor of lung cancer twice and colon cancer.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard (2018) of 61 years, sister Lois and her husband, Sterling Paul Tanner, great-grandchild Abraham Riehl, niece Glenda Tanner and nephew Tim Tanner.

Donna is survived by her children and spouses: Richard, Jr. (Barbara) Brown of Papillion, NE; Randolph (Roberta) Brown of Portland, OR; Suzanne (Kevin) McGarrigle of Minnesott, NC; Robin Riehl of St. Louis, MO; Christopher (Elaine) Brown of Bellevue, NE; and Joseph (Michelle) Brown of Bellevue, NE. Grandchildren: Richard, III; (Stefanie) Brown, Michael (Damali) Brown, Amanda (Ryan) Wedergren, Joshua Brown, Jason Brown, Ryan (Carolina) McGarrigle, Cailin McGarrigle, Patricia Riehl, Phillip (Heather) Riehl, Nicholas (Samantha) Riehl, Grant Brown, Cameron Brown, Christina Brown, Kaylee Robinson, and Cooper Robinson. Great-Grandchildren: Shyann, Jazmin, Shelby, Bryce, Leilana, Brayden, Anela, Camila, Evelyn, Hendrix, Pauline, and Eleanor, sister Phyllis (Cliff) Gosch, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family of Donna would like to sincerely thank everyone for their kindness and thoughtful expressions of love and comfort at a time when it is deeply needed and appreciated. May God bless each and everyone of you!
