Our beloved Joe went to heaven on July 1, 2025. He worked for the City of Omaha for almost 30 years, starting at the bottom and working his way up to heavy equipment operator 2. He had a great time with all his city buddies but they would all agree the winter shift was brutal.
Joe loved so many things in life. Next to his family was the love of his Harley. We both cried when I told him that I was buying it for his 50th birthday! He was always solo when he rode and loved it.
He loved to fish in his early years and mushroom hunting was a must in the spring. The outdoors were his favorite place with camping, campfires, star gazing and good friends. "Farmer Joe" would sit in his man cave for hours contemplating his gardening plans.
His main enjoyment in life was his love for his two sons, Joe Jr. and Jeff, which in return gave him all his grandchildren. He did have extra space in his heart for his grandson Logan, who was his buddy; and the twinkle in his eye when his great granddaughter Wynn-Wynn came to visit.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife Debbie, his two sons Joe Jr. (Cherish) and Jeff (Seth) Boylan, his mother Shirley Dorman; 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, two brothers Terry (Cindy) and Garry; and many nieces and nephews. Special friends Dan and Margo Aerts, Gary and Kathy Povondra, and Wayne and Angela Wheeler.
To the DCI staff in Bellevue, never forget the duck call salute he would give to everyone almost daily! The girls will never admit, but they really did enjoy his onery jokes. Everyone was so good to Joe and it will never be forgotten.
Joe is proceeded in death by his brother David Boylan and stepfather Jim Dorman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Debbie Boylan
