Winston passed away on Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, 2020, in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 91 years. He was born August 20, 1929, in Lynchburg, Virginia. He was the first of his family to attend college, graduating from the Virginia Military Institute in 1951 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, and later earning a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering at Johns Hopkins University in 1955. He proudly served in the USAF for 23 years, with his wife Betty and two children. In 1974, Winston retired with the rank of Lt. Colonel and settled in Omaha. He went on to work for HDR Inc, Control Data, and Omaha Public Schools, where he developed an asbestos removal program for older school buildings. Winston believed in supporting the community, whether it be coaching Little League, repairing computers to be given to disadvantaged children, or volunteering with the AARP Tax-Aide organization.

Winston is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Betty Baber; parents Leroy R. and Abbie W. Baber; and brother Bobbie (Anne) Baber.

He is survived by his son Michael (Janelle) Baber; and daughter Nancy (Patrick) Pellowski.
