Our History

Bethany Funeral Home was founded in 1988 by Deacon Paul Matukiewicz and his wife, Pat, who built the funeral home from the ground up on a simple, unwavering principle: families come first. From the beginning, Paul and Pat were known for their generosity, compassion, and commitment to caring for others during life’s most difficult moments. Their vision established a legacy of service that continues to guide our team today.

Bethany welcomed its first family in early 1989, marking the start of a tradition rooted in kindness, respect, and personal attention. Over the decades, our dedication to serving families with integrity has earned us multiple Omaha Choice Awards, reflecting the deep trust placed in us by the community.

Although Deacon Paul passed away on May 21, 2017, his spirit of service remains at the heart of who we are. Every family we serve is a testament to the mission he and Pat began—providing compassionate, reliable care when it matters most.
