Zygmund S. Jedlecki, 75, of Bellevue NE, passed away peacefully on Monday July 21, 2025.
He was born on November 20, 1949, in Rendsburg, Germany, to Mitchel and Ingaborg Jedlecki. Zygmund immigrated to the United States with his family at the age of four. After graduating from Holy Trinity High School in Chicago, Illinois, Zygmund joined the United States Air Force, where he became a skilled jet engine mechanic. Over the course of his 22-year career, he earned the rank of Senior Master Sergeant, a testament to his dedication and expertise.
While stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, Nebraska. Zygmund met the love of his life, Marianne Buchta. They married on June 17, 1978, blending their lives and their families - Marianne being one of ten siblings. Together they raised three children: Brian (born August 7, 1979), Anthony (born September 28, 1982), and Lisa (born June 17, 1986).
Zygmund remained busy, balancing work, family, and soccer. Zig was able to find time to show his children his passion for fishing. He often spent weekends traveling to fishing tournaments, waking up early to catch the big one, and instilling that same passion in his children.
Zygmund’s world changed when his beloved wife, Marianne, passed away on January 15, 2015. The loss weighed heavily on his heart, but he continued to find joy in his love for fishing and in the company of his grandchildren.
Zygmund is survived by his children, Brian (and fiancé Tara and his children Briley, Summer and Maddie), Anthony (and his wife Meagan, and their children Arianna, Aiden, Charlotte, and Chloe), and Lisa (and her husband Sean, and their children Madelyn, Addison, and Ethan). He is also survived by his brother Mitchel (and his wife Sharon and their children Alan and David), and many nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
