Shannon Faith DeBates

Shannon Faith Landry DeBates, 32, passed away on December 6, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Born on December 3, 1993, in Nanchang, China, Shannon was strong and competitive, a force who changed the lives of everyone she met, most especially her family. She was a loving wife and sister, obsessed with dogs (usually corgis) and sushi (for the eel sauce), travel and traditions. She was a lifelong athlete whose first love was soccer. Unable to play a year after her cancer diagnosis, she found a supportive athletic family in pickleball and delighted in winning at cribbage or any game you dared her to play. She was always grounded by and found comfort in her Catholic faith.

Shannon had a passion for the health care field, and she worked for Nebraska Medicine as an Emergency Services Tech while earning her Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and Masters in Physician Assistant Studies from the College of Saint Mary, graduating in 2018. While there, she was also a member of the varsity swim and soccer teams and managed to maintain a near perfect GPA. She moved to New York, where she worked as a PA in the emergency department at Long Island Community Hospital.

Shannon returned to Nebraska in 2023, where she made a home and married Anthony, the love of her life.

Preceded in death by her grandparents and cousin Bradley Anderson, she is survived by her loving husband, Anthony DeBates; her parents, Edmond and Melanie Landry; brothers Wesley (Matthew), Nathan (Stacy), and Joseph Landry; her sister, Lindsay Landry and nieces Finlay and London; her grandmother-in-law Jeri Kayl; parents-in-law Scott and Ginny DeBates; brother-in-law Benjamin DeBates; sister-in-law Cori (Ty) Castle and niece Scottie.
