Roderick Guy Bodfield, 66, of La Vista, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Bergan Mercy Medical Center in Omaha. Roderick was born on September 25, 1959, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to the late Donald Bodfield and Frances Ortiz Bodfield.

Rod dedicated his professional life to the rail industry, beginning his long and dedicated career in 1978 with Rail Car Nebraska and later continuing his commitment to his career with Watco. In addition to his primary profession, Rod was known for his tireless work ethic, constantly taking on side jobs over the years—especially working on cars—to ensure his large and loving family was always supported.
Rod was a man defined by his unwavering generosity, a spirit that was always ready to help. Rod knew how to have a good time, and always made people smile and laugh. Family and friends frequently shared that "he would do anything for anyone." He loved spending time outdoors. His favorite pastimes included fishing, hunting, bowling, playing horseshoes, and going boating. He also took great pride in his home, enjoying the time spent ensuring his yard was always pristine, while loving the smell of fresh cut grass. Above all, he cherished being around his family as much as possible, especially his children and grandchildren, creating countless memories that will never be forgotten and will be treasured forever.

Roderick was preceded in death by his loving mother and father.
He is survived by his wife, Chaundra Bluvas-Bodfield; his children, Justin Bodfield, Haleigh (Kevin) Hand, Travis Bodfield, Adrianna (Kurtis) Kelly, Cheldin Bluvas, and Austin (Lindsay) Bluvas; his parents-in-law, Larry and April Bluvas; and the mother of two of his children, Wendy Donaldson. Roderick's legacy also lives on through his eight cherished grandchildren: Hayden, Jameson, Kaysten, Leighton, Ryland, Marlow, Emma, and Brayden.
He is also survived by his siblings: Russ (Barb) Bodfield, Terri (Greg) Wilson, Toni Flewelling, Traci (Mark) Estes), Cody (Jen) Bodfield, Kasy (Adam Francis) Bodfield and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services
Visitation will be held at 5:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service, on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Bethany Funeral Home, located at 8201 Harrison St, La Vista, NE 68128.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association at diabetes.org.
