Raul "David" Perez

Raul David Perez, known to most simply as David, age 58, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away on April 10, 2026, surrounded by the family who loved him deeply.

David was born on June 17, 1967, in Garden Grove, California. He attended Big Bend Community College before proudly serving in the United States Army, a commitment that reflected his lifelong sense of duty, resilience, and willingness to step forward when others needed him.

David is survived by his mother, Colleen S. Whitnack of Omaha; his sister, Sarah Svacina, and her spouse, Aaron Svacina, of Omaha; his nephew Xach Skerston of Omaha; his nephew Logan Kelley of Omaha; his niece Araya Kelley of Omaha; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins who will carry his memory forward.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Whitnack; his grandmother, Virginia Teeters; and his grandfather, Clair Teeters.

Something to say about David-

To know David was to know someone who could fix almost anything. He had a heart of gold and a quiet, steady kindness that he offered freely—often to people who didn’t always deserve it, but he helped them anyway. His generosity, his skill with his hands, and his instinct to show up for others defined him as much as any chapter of his life
