Margaret Mary Gillogly Jankovich, lovingly known as Peggy, passed away at home, surrounded by her family, on Monday, April 27, 2026, at the age of 91.

With Peggy’s passing, an era closes for the Gillogly and Moriarty families, whose roots and legacy extend across the country. She was a beloved presence and a cornerstone of the South Omaha community. Guided always by her deep faith and devotion to family, Peggy lived a life of extraordinary care and quiet service. She was the devoted mother of twelve, grandmother of twenty-five, and great-grandmother of many.

She also volunteered at parish festivals and fundraisers and faithfully committed herself to perpetual adoration hour for many years. Peggy was also an early supporter of the Stephen Center Shelter, generously dedicating many hours of her time to its mission. She also committed substantial time to political causes through organizing, volunteering at polling stations, donating, and campaigning.

Peggy’s values - faith, humility, and service - were woven not only into her children but into the broader Omaha community. Some reading this are the recipients of a hot meal or a care package prepared with love during a time of need. Peggy along with her husband, James, also gave private financial assistance to friends, even strangers experiencing financial hardship and difficult times mostly through anonymous donations. She was deeply loved for her sage insight and her loving wit.

She was born in South Omaha in 1934 to William Kehoe Gillogly and Margaret Mary (Moriarty) Gillogly. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; and her brothers William (Margaret), Eugene (formerly Glee), James (Louise), and Richard Patrick (Kathleen).

She is lovingly survived by her twelve children: Doreen; Regina (Joseph) Shavlik; Christopher (Deb); William; Mary; Ann (James) Wenninghoff; Jeanne Balaban; James; Patricia (Robert) Stansbury; Joseph; Jeremy; and Justin (Dawn).
