Lorene Alice Stones (May 4, 1940 - April 8, 2026)

Our hearts ache, but we will always have joy in the memories of a woman who meant so much to so many people.

Lorene Alice Stones went to her Lord and Savior on April 8, 2026, at the age of 85.

Lorene was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Larry D. Stones, and her son, Steven Stones.

Lorene was born with a gentle spirit and a deep love for family that guided her throughout her life. Born the sixth child of Con and Ruth Peters. She attended Zion Lutheran School and Omaha South High School. She met the love of her life, Larry D. Stones, at Merritt’s Beach in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, where Larry worked as a lifeguard. They married on April 29, 1961 and moved to the family farm in Murray, Nebraska. Together on the farm, they built a life full of love, laughter, and adventure. They enjoyed watching their children play ball, golfing together, boating at Beaver Lake, and taking family trips to the Lake of the Ozarks. Later in life, Lorene worked for Oriental Trade Center where she retired from.

Lorene found her greatest joy in being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved being able to stay home and raise her five children: Lisa and Tom Green (Taryn and Damon Harrill, Shannon Green, and Rylee Green); Susan Stones (Kelsey Raymer [Summit and Stetson Raymer]); Mark Stones; David and Angie Stones (Kailee, Cassie, and Jake Stones); and Daniel and Anissa Stones (Dalton and Reagan Stones, Delanie Stones, and Wyatt Stones). She is also survived by her three sisters, Margie Brightwell, Karen Stiehl and Vivian Schirmer. Lorene Stones adored her sisters and was proud to be part of a big, loving family. She will be dearly missed.

Visitation: Tuesday, April 14, 2026 from 5-7PM at Bethany Funeral Home

Celebration of Lorene's Life: Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 11:00 am at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church (7706 S. 96 St.), with Luncheon to follow at the Church
