Leila J. Trochlil

1929-2026

Leila “Lee” Trochlil was born on September 19, 1929, in Ventura County, California, to Edwin B. Coggeshall and Mildred E. Bates. She passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2025, at Hillcrest Silver Ridge Assisted Living in Gretna, Nebraska.

Lee met the love of her life, Dennis “Denny” Trochlil, in Mankato, Minnesota, where she was living with her mother. They were married on December 27, 1947, in Long Beach, California. During Denny’s service in the U.S. Navy, the couple lived in California and New York before returning to Mankato. In 1953, they moved to Omaha, Nebraska, and later settled in La Vista, where they raised their family of four children.

Lee worked for Sears for many years before choosing to stay home to care for her children. As her children grew older, she returned to the workforce as Executive Secretary for the Nebraska Association of Family Physicians. In 1980, Lee retired and joyfully embraced one of her favorite roles—being a “babysitting Grandma,”. Over the years, she lovingly cared for many of her grandchildren who lived nearby and was always a steady source of help and support to her family.

Lee was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Denny, in March 2014; sons-in-law Terry Sweeney (October 2013) and Ron Tangeman (April 2020); and daughter-in-law Barbara Trochlil (May 2025).

She is survived by her children: Gary (Rhonda) Trochlil, Karen Sweeney, Mike Trochlil, and Susan Tangeman; her grandchildren Brian Price, Stephenie Jeffus, Tanya Hartly, Matthew Trochlil, Alycia Klipstine, Aaron Trochlil, Ron Tangeman Jr., Mike Tangeman, and Chris Tangeman; their spouses; and many cherished great-grandchildren.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
