John Michael Stackhouse

John Michael Stackhouse, 74, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, in Elkhorn, Nebraska.

John Stackhouse was born on January 27, 1951 in Birmingham, Alabama to Roy Stackhouse and Catherine (Brough) Stackhouse. He was the second youngest of seven children. After high school, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps with one duty station in Okinawa, Japan. He worked primarily as a carpenter until he retired. He was extremely skilled in carpentry and could build almost anything by himself.

John married Jane (LeFevre) Stackhouse in Anniston, Alabama in Jane's mother's home on August 20, 1983. The couple had two children, Sarah Catherine Scott, of Papillion, NE, and Abbey Rebecca Boland, of Plattsmouth, NE.

John was best known for his strong faith, unyielding optimism, resilience, sense of humor, his stories, love of carpentry and history, and most of all, his girls. He was extremely intelligent and had a wealth of knowledge about history and politics. He enjoyed watching many movies with his family over the years.

John is survived by his two daughters, Abbey and Sarah; his grandchildren Haiden, Ella, and Eve; two siblings, Joseph and Deborah; and several nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his wife, Janie; his parents Roy and Catherine; and his siblings Mary Elaine, Patty, Ruth, and Renee.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be directed to the Scott and Boland families.
