Floyd W. Durkop

Floyd William Durkop passed away peacefully at home on the evening of Thursday, April 10, 2026 at the age of 94 years.

Floyd was born June 30, 1931 in Omaha, NE to Bill and Ida (Sinner) Durkop. Floyd graduated from Papillion High School in 1949. He was drafted into the Korean War in May 1951 and served until January 1954. He built roads and operated heavy equipment in Japan and Korea. He married Idora Moore on October 9, 1954, at United Methodist Church in Papillion. They were married almost 67 years and together over 70 years. They farmed together, raised a family and enjoyed life together.

Floyd mentioned frequently that he lived a good life. He loved his family, farming, gardening, making things from scrap items and fishing. He was involved with 4-H at the Sarpy County Fair, Coast Guard Auxiliary member, and many card playing groups. He enjoyed giving advice about gardening to his friends and the many people who stopped by to admired his garden. He liked sharing his bounty with the neighborhood and would put vegetables and fruit on the wooden stand that he built.

He was quick to tease and joke with a “twinkle in his eye”. He enjoyed the monthly get togethers that Angie arranged and all the good food she made, he never went hungry. He was grateful for Angie’s help with gardening, canning and taking him fishing.

While his passing is bitter sweet, it is comforting to know he is in heaven with his wife (holding her hand), his fishing buddies, great neighbors and friends.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents an infant daughter, son Gary, sister and brother in law, Emily and Ken Snide, sister in law Elaine Moore, niece Debbie (Moore) Young, brother in law and sister in law Kenny Moore and Darlene Moore, brothers in law Dwight and Michael Moore.

Floyd is survived by children: Melissa (Rick) Bunyard of Fullerton, California, Amy (Tim) Reznicek of North Bend, Nebraska. Grandchildren: Donielle and Henry Bunyard, Katy (Trevor) Jenner, Paul (Claire) Reznicek. Great grandchildren: Leo Jenner, Kade and Parker Reznicek. Brother in law Bob Moore; nephews David (Jenny), Dan (Cheri), Don (Angie), Duane Moore, Bill Snide and Steve Young. His special care giver Angie Johnson.

He will be missed, but not by the fish.

Memorials may be directed to the Durkop family to be donated to Floyd's favorite charities.
