Edward Joseph Setlak, Jr.

Edward J. Setlak Jr. passed away unexpectedly on December 23, 2025, at his home in Papillion, Nebraska. He was born on July 15, 1942, in Omaha, Nebraska.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Edward J. Setlak Sr. and Catherine Setlak, and by his beloved wife, Gratia Jones Setlak.

He is survived by his four loving children: Daniel (Lisa) Setlak, Julie Setlak (Antonio), Suzanne Setlak, and John Setlak. He was a proud grandfather to Sarah (Patrick), Nina (Carl), Jacob (Diavel), April, Jessica, Joseph, and Jaxson, and a cherished great-grandfather to ten great-grandchildren.

Ed is also survived by his siblings: Joseph (Dorothy) Setlak, Rose Marie Ciurej, James Setlak, and John (Cherri) Setlak.

In addition, he is survived by his stepdaughter, Rona (Brad) Chapman; his stepsons, Bill and Michael Jones; and his grandchildren Taylor, Connor, and Luke, along with additional great-grandchildren. He leaves behind his cherished dog, Ginger.

Born and raised in South Omaha, Ed began his career working for Union Pacific Railroad. After leaving the railroad, he explored various occupations before formally retiring from Sugarloaf.

Ed was a kind and gentle soul, known for his caring, non-judgmental nature and quiet strength. His faith was an inspiration to us all, and we know he has a special place in heaven. Above all else, he devoted his life and love to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He had a deep affection for dancing, especially Polka, and he and his wife Gratia treasured weekends spent dancing and enjoying time with friends. Ed also enjoyed playing golf with his son John, his daughter Suzanne, and his brothers, as well as fishing with his son Dan.

Ed will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
