Dwight Allen Haworth, 86, of Papillion, Nebraska, died at home on Saturday, December 27, 2025. He was born on July 29, 1939, in Aitken, Minnesota, to Floyd Haworth and Mary Damery Haworth. The family moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa, in 1943, where he graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and enlisted in the Air Force. He graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1963 and went on to serve the Air Force for his career as a helicopter pilot, retiring in 1981 with the rank of Major. He earned numerous military honors including the Distinguished Flying Cross with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service medal, Air Medal with 5 Oak Leaf clusters, AF Commendation medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), Army Good Conduct Medal, National Air Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, AF Outstanding Unit Award with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, AF Outstanding Unit Award with Valor, Combat Readiness Medal, and AF Longevity Service Ribbon with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters.

After he retired from military service, Dwight earned his Doctorate in Information Systems from Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas, and took a teaching position at the University of Nebraska Omaha, where he taught for over 25 years before fully retiring in 2018 .

Dwight married Ann M. Ahn, who survives, on February 14, 1975, and they shared 50 devoted years of marriage. He is also survived by 3 sons, Dwight (Debbie) Haworth, Dustin (Cyndi) Haworth, Donald Haworth, and a daughter Diana (Jim) Arnold, seven grandchildren: Sarabeth (Steve) Gandara, Hannah (Gus) Henderson, Jesse (Shelby) Haworth, Micah (Erin) Haworth, Madison Baldwin, Shekynah (Jordan) Upmeyer, Michael Baldwin, 3 sisters: Marlis Rockwell (Larry+), Marchelle (Steve) Dunn, and Marilyn Haworth (Charlie Johnson) , 6 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Mary, his brother Al Haworth, and his sister, Marlee Jensen.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Bethany Funeral Home, 8201 Harrison Street, La Vista, Nebraska.
