Dean A. Barnes

Dean Allen Barnes, 66, of La Vista, passed away peacefully on Friday September 4, 2026 surrounded by family.

Born on April 20, 1960 in Sioux City, IA, Dean attended Papillion high school where he proudly played football on a team ranked number 1 in the state. He also enjoyed wrestling, demonstrating the determination, strength, and competitive spirit that would become such an important part of who he was throughout his life. Dean lived a life filled with love, family and faith. He dedicated years working as a driver for Waste Management and for Shamrock Concrete.

Dean is survived by Parents: David Barnes, Mary Barnes; daughters, Brittanie Barnes, Breanne Smith (Brandon); granddaughter: Jaylinn; brother Brian Barnes; sisters, Jackie Cummings (Doug), Beth Wiley (Andy)

Those who knew Dean will always remember his great sense of humor, his love for AC/DC, and his passion for Nebraska Football. But above all, Dean cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. His two daughters and granddaughter held a very special place in his heart, and the love he shared with them was one of the greatest joys of his life. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Visitation: Thursday, September 10 from 5-6:30 pm with a Vigil Service at 6:30 pm, at Bethany Funeral Home, 8201 Harrison St, La Vista, NE. Funeral Mass: Friday, September 11, at 10 am at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, 200 E Sixth St, Papillion, NE. Interment: Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
