Brian D. Steffensmeier
Brian David Steffensmeier was born on March 4th, 1976, to Patricia and Dennis Steffensmeier and passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on November 1st, 2025.
In his early years, Brian attended St. Gerald Catholic School and later graduated from Ralston High School in 1994. Brian went on to continue his education at Metro Community College with an interest in photography. Throughout Brian’s adult life, he enjoyed working in the retail industry, spending many years working at Casual Male Big and Tall, Hobby Lobby, and Abante Embroidering. Brian was an avid collector of all things vintage and Christmas, including ornaments, trees, cookbooks, coins, sewing machines, and vacuums. He loved to travel, with Okoboji and Las Vegas being his favorites, always noting that Bellagio had the best buffet. Brian loved to cook and entertain for his friends and family. His love of food often led him to try new restaurants; Mister C’s, Caniglia’s, and Venice Inn were a few of his favorites. Brian had a huge love for cats; if you knew him, he’d certainly told you a story or two about his favorite, Pigsley. Brian adored his niece and nephew, and was very proud of the bond he shared of his love of Christmas with Grant and love of kitties with Kensley. He was always excited for Christmas, but getting to see the kids open the special gifts he had found for them each year was always a favorite. Brian’s early years brought out the prankster in him, usually ganging up with one sibling to prank the other. This joy only grew over the years as Brian would often purchase unique gifts for Steven and Michelle, which were always followed by a “remember when” story. Most recently, Brian’s favorite pastime was running the store in his apartment building, providing snacks and essentials for those unable to get out, and using the proceeds to host residential parties and gatherings each month.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Brian’s caregivers throughout his recent health conditions. Your hard work, dedication, love, and willingness to go above and beyond for Brian did not go unnoticed.
Brian was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Steffensmeier, grandparents, Lawrence and LaVina Steffensmeier, John and Evelyn Goodrow, and his beloved cat, Pigsley.
Surviving Brian are his father, Dennis Steffensmeier, sister, Michelle (Rocky) Hansen, all of Ralston, Nebraska; his brother, Steven (Bobbi) Steffensmeier, of Atlantic, Iowa; nephew, Grant Hansen; niece, Kensley Hansen, also of Ralston; special friend, Pat Nebola, of Clarkson, Nebraska; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
In honor of Brian’s love of Christmas, the family invites you to join them in dressing in your favorite holiday attire, including church-appropriate ugly sweaters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the family for the designation of Christmas gifts for the oncology patients at Children’s Hospital in memory of Brian.
