Anthony "Tony" Prentis

Anthony “Tony” Prentis, age 80, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025. He was born in Germany as his family fled Lithuania, eventually finding a home in Omaha, Nebraska, where he was raised and lived for most of his life.

Tony proudly served his country for two years as a Drill Sergeant in the United States Army. Following his military service, he began a long and dedicated career with Pitney Bowes, where he worked for many years before retiring.

In 1965, Tony married the love of his life, Kathleen (Tenczer) Prentis, and together they built a family filled with laughter, love, and adventure. They were blessed with three children, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life.

Tony had a deep love for the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing and hunting. His yearly trips to the lakes of Minnesota were a cherished tradition. Known for his quick wit and endless supply of dad jokes, Tony could always make those around him smile.

Tony is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Kathleen (Tenczer) Prentis; his children, Mark (Tami) Prentis, Dan (Sandy) Prentis, and Julie (Josh) Sigmund; his grandchildren, Zachary (Teri) Prentis, Nicholas (Jordan) Prentis, Drew Prentis, David Prentis, Mallory Sigmund, and Jaxton Sigmund; and his great-grandchildren, Isaias Prentis and Maevyn Prentis. He is also survived by his brother John (Bev) Prentis; brother-in-law Louis Hospodka; sister-in-law Lilia Preiksaitis; and many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Jadvyga Preiksaitis; his father- and mother-in-law, Frank and Josephine Tenczer; his brother Joseph Preiksaitis; sister Irene Glebavicius; nephews Joseph, Steven, and John Glebavicius; nieces Linda and Irene Glebavicius and Christine Martinez; and brothers- and sisters-in-law Joseph Glebavicius, Don Tenczer, Frank Tenczer, Carol Zoucha, Dolores Krzycki, and Mary Hospodka.

Tony will be remembered for his strength, humor, and devotion to family—a man who led with both discipline and heart. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
