Alice Lucille Roy passed away peacefully at home on April 5, 2025. Alice lived her entire life in Papillion, Nebraska, on the farm with her parents, until her marriage to Francis J. Roy on February 11, 1956. Alice and Francis raised their three daughters in Papillion as well. Alice went to work in banking after graduating from Papillion High School. She changed careers and for the last fifteen years before her retirement, she sold insurance and investments for AAL/Thrivent Financial, always committed to serving her clients’ needs with compassion and caring. She cared about people. Alice’s faith was very important to her. She and Francis were 60-year charter members of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. If you asked her, she would say God first and family second. She took up quilting in her retirement, making a quilt for each of her daughters and grandchildren. And she loved to play cards. Once she and Francis moved to Hillcrest Grand Lodge retirement community, she could be found playing cards multiple times a week. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents Victor T. and Myrtle I. Matthies.
She is survived by her loving husband Francis J. Roy; children Cheryl (Kevin) Ross, Debra Hoss, and Colleen Roy; grandchildren Aaron (Arturo Roderiguez Carrillo) Olsen, Tiffany (Ted) Manos, Briana (Christian) Haack, and Amber (Ryan) Nightser; great grandchildren Kinsley and Tate Nightser, Charlotte and Gwendolyn Manos; brothers Victor "Ted" (Marcia) Matthies and Donald Matthies; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Memorials may be directed to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church (7706 So. 96th St. La Vista, NE. 68128).
