Obituary for Rose M. Flud

Rose Mary Flud (Trujillo), a devoted wife, loving mother of seven, and beloved grandmother to her many grandchildren passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 83 years. She was born on Thursday, May 13, 1937 in Denver, Colorado.

She attended Palo Verde Valley High School in Blythe, California where she met her future husband and only love - Troy Flud. They married on October 8, 1955 while she was a senior in high school and he was leaving for basic training after enlisting in the United States Air Force. She received her high school diploma in 1956 from Palo Verde Valley High School - an accomplishment she was very proud of while he was away.

Rose grew up with a large family and had one of her own. Her first child, Chris, was born a year later and was followed by 6 more children over the next thirteen years. At the age of 78 she adopted her great-granddaughter Audrianna - becoming “mom" once again. She then welcomed many grandchildren with joy and loved being a grandma.

Rose moved to Omaha in 1969 after her husband was stationed at SAC Headquarters in Bellevue, NE and lived there for the remainder of her life. She lived in the same house for over 50 years and became loved by all her neighbors.

Rose was “mom” to everyone. She cooked for an army - even after all the kids left home - and was loved by all that knew her. As her children were growing, the sound of a piercing whistle in the air was her way of calling them home for dinner as she stood on the porch, oftentimes bringing more kids home than just hers for a meal. Everyone knew, without fail, that they would be welcome at her home.

She had a love for animals and they were a permanent part of her life as she took in a variety of cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets and the occasional reptile.

Rose later became a cook and worked at various restaurants in Omaha, including Paltani’s, Romeo’s and El Bee’s. She was known for her Mexican food recipes and her tamales were a favorite of the family and neighbors and were in high demand. After retirement she enjoyed spending time with her family, painting and crafting.

Rose’s life touched many and her warmth, care and love will be forever remembered and forever missed. As Thomas Campbell said, "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die." For all those mourning her loss, know that Rose is alive and living in your hearts now and forever.

Rose is preceded in death by her loving husband Troy Flud; parents Paul and Mary Cochet; son Daniel L. Flud; sister Priscilla Hamblen and brother Roger Trujillo.

She is survived by her children Christopher Troy (Lori) Flud, Mitchell Alan Flud, Deborah Rene (Kevin) Kresl, Mary Elizabeth Flud, Scott Brady (Dani) Flud, Pamela Renee Greenfield and Audrianna Rose Flud; brothers Paul Cochet, Ronald Cochet, Timothy Cochet, and David Cochet; sisters Francis Cochet and Rachel (Andy) Carrillo; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren who loved her dearly.

Livestream will be available on the Bethany Funeral Home website at 9:45 AM CST, February 15, 2021.
